Cynthia's Magic Card

Good morning!
Cynthia here with Ink a Doodle Creations.
Today I want to share with you the magic card I created and the instructions on how you can recreate it for yourself.  Its hard to explain with pictures but I did my best.  If you have any questions, please feel free to send me an email and I will be happy to explain further.  So lets get started.  I saw several ideas floating around out there for a magic card, but non that still opened up like a normal A2 card.  So I went to work and edited directions to make it open like a normal card.  That way you can still write a message inside.

The completed finished card front....

The complete card inside....

The magic begins...

Front of card as the magic starts to appear when you pull it out...

I first must say this was my first attempt at making a "magic" card.  It was easy, but my first big mess up was that I forgot all the images need to be hallow stamped images.  Meaning, ones that can be colored.  I at first stamped the house, trees, pumpkins and leaves on the outside as well, but then when I pulled it out, you still just saw black....that was my DUH SLAP THE FORHEAD MOMENT!!  I share this cause I don't want you to make the same mistake as I did and have to erase a lot of your work.

Step #1: using a whole 8-1/2x11" piece of cardstock score down the short side at 4-1/4".
Step #2:  now down the long side score at 5-1/2".
Step #3:  now on the top left corner section, cut and remove 1/4".   In step 4 picture you can see where I removed this piece.
Step #4:  with paper @ 5-1/2", cut over to the 4-1/4" score line.
This is what your cardstock will look like when you have cut and scored at all steps above.  Pretty simple so far.

The lower left section will become the front of the card and this is where you will cut out a shape for the front for image to be seen through.

The top left section gets folded to the back.  It becomes the inside of the card where you can write your message/sentiment and sign.
To correctly fold up the card, fold first the top left section to the back as seen in this photo.
Next fold the bottom half up towards the top.  You will see flaps at this point cause no redline is put in place yet.  I just want you to know how to fold it correctly before you put adhesive in the wrong place.
Now then fold the final left side and again this should be the front of the card.  If it helps, place sticky notes in the places I did until you know how to fold it up correctly or play around with a piece of computer paper instead of wasting nice cardstock.

The dark lines show where to place your redline adhesive.  Make sure its all the way to each edge to allow room for your paper to slide in and out.  This forms the inside pocket for the stamped cardstock to slide in and out of. **(the redline should remain in tact until after you cut out the card front shape-see pictures below)**
Again place redline adhesive where you see the dark lines. This step here forms the front pocket where the clear window sheet slips into.

On the front of your card adhere down your DSP of choice and cut out the shape you wish to use.
This is how it looks after oval has been cut out and before any gluing.
I used the 1" circle punch to punch out half for my pull tab area.  Make sure you do not go thru the layer that will be the inside of the card.
Again use the 1" circle punch in your choice of color to fold in half and attach for the pull tab.
Ok, on to the stamping.  My white layers and window sheet is cut to 3-5/8" x 4-7/8" I used my stamp a ma jig to make sure everything got lined up correctly.  If you do make a mistake I used rubbing alcohol to remove the black stazon ink from the clear window sheet.  You want to make sure you line them up the best you can and that you use hollow images.  Remember that mess up that I talked about?!  Next time I will plan a little better which stamp set I select, but I was to far in with this one to change it.
Once you have stamped what you want on both layers place a line of adhesive on your correct edge (in this case I need it on the right) to attach the two together.  This is also where you will glue the tab in place. (as seen in the picture below)
All stamped, colored and ready to be inserted into the layered pockets.  Just remember, that the white layer goes in the back and the window sheet goes in the front pocket.  It should be the only thing you see on the front of the card.

Thanks for stopping by to check out my version of the "Magic" card.  I hope you will give it a try.  I'd love to see what you created.
