Focus On...Gentle Peace

Hello, Tonya here from Stampin' With Tonya. I am the feature designer today and I want to share the Gentle Peace Photopolymer Stamp Set with you today. This set just recently became available to purchase and it was a must have. The first card I did follows the same layout as the sample on the Flyer for the set. I just made a few color changes. Speaking of color, the colors on this card are Rich Razzleberry, Basic Gray, Whisper White. I used the Blendabilties to color in the Stain Glass image. I was inspired by our church to pick similar colors. We have a beautiful stain glass window at the front of our sanctuary and that helped with my card. 

For my next project I wanted to share another card that uses the Gentle Peace stamp set and the Blendabilites but this time with a way. I have made ornaments for years for Christmas time and this year I wanted to see if I could add the main image into the ornament using both the Stazon and the new Blendabilities. I started with a Window Sheet which is one page 192 of the main catalog. I stamped with Stazon and then flipped it over and proceeded to color the image. I used several different colors and I should have kep patter track. I added a ribbon through the Window Sheet and then looped the excess to the top and tied a bow. Now I have a ornament to add to our tree. The Blendabilities are great for coloring on so many mediums. I hope you enjoyed the blog and that you will join us again on Wednesday. Thanks, Tonya

Today I have a nice easy fall themed project for you. I don't know about you, but fall and winter are my favorite time to burn candles indoors. Candles add a warm coziness to a room and there are so many divine scents to enjoy. 

Anybody can do this. 

All you need is: vellum, Blendabilities, stamps, a foam paintbrush, decoupage medium and a glass object that you can put a candle in, and of course, a candle. I chose a tall cylindrical glass tube that a 3" pillar candle will fit in. You do not want to go with something that has too many curves in it. A smooth cylinder or squared shape will be the easiest to work with.

The first thing I did was to cut vellum cardstock into 1" squares. Then I colored them with the following Blendability colors/shades.

I made a lot more squares. This is just a representative photo of what I did

 On the back (non-colored side) of some of  the vellum squares, stamp your image. I used the tiny leaves stamp from the Holiday Home photopolymer set in the Holiday catalog. I stamped it four times on each square.  

Once you have (approximately) enough squares to cover your glass object you will then adhere them with a decoupage medium. 

I used this:

I brushed a layer of it onto the glass and allowed it to sit for a minute before adding the the squares. I discovered that the vellum will tend to curl a little bit so you will have to go back and smooth the edges down. Once the first layer has dried you will then do a second layer of decoupage glue over the vellum squares.

I kept mine simple for now and have left it plain, but you could add a nice wide ribbon around the bottom or you could stamp a scene onto the vellum before you cut it and then attach the squares so your scene has a tiled look. There is a multitude of ways you can use this technique and get very nice results. I hope you will give it a try and if you do show it off here: SSINKspiration

Christmas Cards

Soot Stamping with Erica

Hello! Erica here from Stamping Starlette.  I'm so excited to share this super fun technique of  Soot Stamping! I've used this technique quite a few times and love it. When Fall Fest came out I knew it would make some really cute cards. To get started you'll need: a candle, glossy card stock and any type of stamp (photopolymer or rubber work well).

The first thing you will need to do is set the mood by lighting a candle. You actually need a candle for this technique. I've tried using just a match and one, it doesn't burn long enough and two, it doesn't work for some reason. Anyway you run the glossy side of the card stock against the flame quickly enough to cast a gray film over the card stock but not to scorch it or burn it. Keep extra careful watch on the edges. They catch on fire so avoid them if you want. 

Next, stamp your stamp onto the card stock. You don't need any ink on it. The photopolymer sticks almost too well so lift off carefully.

When you lift the stamp off the card stock it will take off the grey film caused by the flame. It leaves a ghostly background and that is perfect for Halloween cards!
