Oh Christmas Tree ~ by Breelin Renwick

Hi there!  Breelin here from Craft-somnia Momma and today I'm sharing some cute little Christmas trees that were inspired after a trip to a local craft store over the weekend.  Don't you love seeing something in a store and know you can make it on your own...for half the cost too!

With the idea fresh in my mind after my trip, I got to work, only to discover I only had one roll of the Burlap and Natural Chevron Ribbon...ugh!  Thankfully my upline and downlines came to my rescue :-)

 

I wrapped each floral foam cone in some retired DSP (happy to use it up!) then began pinning each piece of looped ribbon and DSP.

The ribbon and DSP were all cut at 4" long, folded in half and pinned to the cone.

 

 Next I got some of the Cherry Cobble Seam Binding Ribbon wet, crumpled it up and let it dry.  I love the effect that you get with this technique!

 

 

The ribbon was then pinned to look like garland on the tree.

I repeated the ribbon and DSP pattern all the way to the top.  I then topped off each tree with a star from the Many Merry Stars Simply Created Kit.  I finished off the trees with some gold stars and gold sequin trim.

Quick, easy and so much fun!

Gratitude For Days

Howdy! Darcy here from Dj's Stampin' Place. In the last five years, November has become my favorite month. While we should all practice gratitude every single day, I love that it is so open and widespread this month. It make my heart happy.

I was very excited when I saw the Holiday Catalog and our brand new Gratitude For Days Simply Created Kit.

What better way to share your gratitude with others than to hang it on a wall?! This kit comes with everything you see here. All you need is adhesive and a pen. However, if you want to embellish it a bit, you can get the Gratitude For Days Photopolymer Stamp Set. It's available in English, Spanish, and French.

I used the 20__ stamp so that I could journal for each day this month this year. Next year, I can pull it out, and do the same thing for 2015!

I don't have the entire thing on my wall yet, but have decided I will do five rows of six. Here's my first row:

Here's a close up of one of the pockets and cards so you can see how much room you'll have to journal.

Aside from the grateful part of things, I love this kit because it features our fabulous In Colors for 2014-2016. Also, it comes with two extra note cards (in case you mess up or have more to say). The cord to hang them on has plastic on the ends like your shoestrings, so it really will hold up for many years.

This would be a great family project to do with your kids! It's not too late to order it either. We're only 5 days in to the month! I think it will be fun to look back year after year. What do you think?

This kit would also make a great advent calendar, chore calendar, etc. What other uses can you think of for it?

Technique Tuesday! Markers and Clear Blocks!

Happy Tuesday!

Donna here from Organized Chaos to share with you another Technique Tuesday post!

Are you excited to see a fun way to use your markers today?

We're going to stamp with our markers and our clear blocks.  Wait..What?!

First Step.  Pick out any of your markers that you'd like to use.

Then grab a block that is at least as big (if not bigger!!) than the paper you will be "stamping on"

Next:  Color your block!

  

I colored in stripes here.  In this example, I placed the paper on the desk, and stamped with my block.  I pressed pretty hard, but I wanted the textural white space to show.  If you want your ink to be more uniform and not so much white space, I recommend you put your block on the desk, put your paper on top of it, and use your brayer to roll with even pressure across the block.  (this is why its better to have a bigger block than your paper)

If you want to really make a statement:

Try coloring your block in a random color pattern,

Then spritz the block with alcohol

 the more alcohol you add, the swirlier the colors will get....I love watching this part!

See the difference between the two?  (notice I missed a few spots with the alchol spritzer...the colors didn't swirl as nicely as I wanted.  just flip the cardstock and try again!)

Add some embellishments....

and viola!
