SURPRISE! by Pam

Welcome to my individual post for this month!  In case you don't know me, I am Pam Steckman from Stampin' in the Sun. I have a really special card in with a surprise on the inside... wait for it.... start scrolling now...

Surprise!  It's a card in a box!  You can store anything flat inside the box so I put a gift card for someone special who loves to make crafts!

When you pull out the gift card, you see the special message!

I created the belly band using card stock, Blossom Punch and Pansy Punch.

You can see that the card opens up like a box - how cute is that?

I love the embellishments for the 2012-2014 in-colors - they are perfect for the centers of the flowers!

Do you want to know where to get the directions?
I found a video on Dawn Griffith's page - click here to find the video.

Spiral Flowers ~ Oh What Fun!

Hello! It's Melissa from crazypaperfreak, here to show you how you can make gorgeous flowers from the new Spiral Flower die from Stampin' Up! It is available in the new Occasions catalog. I love making flowers, but they're always so time consuming. Stampin' Up! has come up with a simple way to create gorgeous flowers, without spending hours making them.

One of the things that I really love about it, is that each flower is so unique and different. No two are alike! You can make them as big, or as small as you like. Another thing I love is that it really doesn't take THAT much paper. Just a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" piece. It makes it pretty easy when you're using 8 1/2" x 11" cardstock.

Stampin' Up! Occasions 2014 catalog item# 129379

How To:
1. Cut your cardstock to 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"
2. Place paper onto die. You can cut up to 4 pieces of paper at a time.
3. Run the die through the big shot.
4. Gently separate the flower spiral from the excess cardstock
5. I like to wad, crinkle, and break down the fibers of the cardstock before I start to assemble the flower.
6. Starting with the small end of the spiral, twist the spiral around itself until it forms a flower. You can roll it tight for small flowers and loose for larger ones.
7. Adhere the flower to your chosen surface with a hot glue gun.
8. Using a bone folder, curl out the edges of the flower to give it a more natural look.

Supplies
Cardstock ~ whisper white, basic gray, smoky slate, perfect plum, wisteria wonder
Ink ~ White StazOn
Tools ~ embossing folder, paper trimmer, paper snips, spiral flower die, big shot. glue dots, hot glue, boho blossoms punch, petite petals punch
Embellishments ~ rhinestones basic jewels

Box Dimensions
Base box: 6 1/2" x 8" Score @ 1 1/4" on all four sides
Lid: 6 5/8" x 8 1/8" Score @ 1 1/4" on all four sides

Folded Banner Cards

Hi! Kristy from Mama's Sanity here!  Is everyone enjoying Sale-a-Bration?  Have you picked out your favorite freebie?  I have to say I love the Banner Punch (Item #133519).  It is a perfect size for cards - and for using up scraps.  It is also great for making little folded over banners.  You can use them to make flags or hang them on twine to make a banner. Here is an example of a card I made using my folded banners as flags.

Here is how I did it:

I started with scrap of paper from the Sweet Sorbet DSP (Item #133521), folded in half.  When you put the paper into the bunch, be careful to leave a small gap between the very edge of the punch and the folded edge of the paper.  This will leave the folded in tact and create your folded banner.  From there, I snipped the top off a toothpick and placed it in the fold of the banner to create a flag.

I used the holes in the doily to hold the flags.  Everything, except the flags, are from the Everyday Occasions Cardmaking Kit (Item #134797). To give a little extra depth to the flags, I added a Stampin' Dimensional (also from the Everyday Occasions Cardmaking Kit!) behind the front flag.

Another way to use these cute little folded over flags is to create a banner.  I started our February card sketch.  I used scraps from the Fresh Prints Designer Paper Stack (Item #132996) to create the banner.  The other elements were also from the Everyday Occasions Cardmaking Kit.

If you haven't ordered this punch yet, think about it adding it to your next order.  I hope I've INKspired you to try it in a new way.  And don't forget, you can use this same technique with many of Stampin' Up's punches!

PS -

Do you like the little feather on this card?  I couldn't just leave it flat, so to give it a little depth, I used my Simply Scored Stylus (Item #125624) to add little creases to help bring the feather "to life".
